Blender 5.2 introduces a new physics simulation system powered by Geometry Nodes.
The first features released with this system are cloth simulation and hair dynamics. Although it is still experimental, this update gives us a glimpse of where Blender’s physics system is heading.
Previously, the main workflow involved adding Cloth and Collision modifiers separately and adjusting their settings in the Physics Properties panel.
The new system is built around the Dynamics modifier and Geometry Nodes.
One important difference is that you can place only the elements you need into a collection and selectively include them in the simulation.
Rather than simply applying a cloth effect, the system is designed so that simulation results can be connected to nodes and processed further.
After pinning part of the cloth with a vertex group and playing the animation, the rest of the cloth follows in real time as the object moves.
This makes it easier to adjust the shape while directly checking how the cloth responds.

The new cloth simulation lets you control how much the cloth stretches and how easily it bends.
Controls how much the cloth can stretch.
Higher values can create rubber-like or gel-like results.
